Apparatus Bay
We
have one aide/rescue vehicle, two structure engines, four wildland
fire engines (known as brush trucks), one water truck (known as a
tender in fire service terms) and one command vehicle. Of the four
brush trucks: two are at the main hall in Lyle, one is at our
satellite station on Burdoin Mountain and the other is preemptively
situated on Canyon Road. The tender, main engine and command
vehicles work double and triple duty responding to structure fires,
wildland fires and vehicle fires. We also have three permanently
stationed 5000 gallon water tankers positioned strategically in the
outskirts of the fire district.
We maintain such a large fleet of vehicles for two reasons: 1) they are needed to respond to the diverse call types we have and 2) we try to optimize our vehicle fleet to minimize your homeowner’s insurance.
