Department History

Officially known as Klickitat County Fire Protection District #4, the Lyle Fire Department (LFD) consists entirely of trained neighbors helping neighbors since 1953.

Guided by the LFD Board of Commissioners which consists of 3 publicly elected members, we take pride in supporting the community we live in and regularly train to make sure that our neighbors have the protection you deserve. Our department has cultivated a strong bond throughout on-going, hands-on training and mentorship to sustain the needs of our community.

Community Partnerships

Our department is committed to building strong partnerships within the community to enhance fire prevention and emergency response.

Expertise

With years of experience and continuous training, our team is well-equipped to handle various emergency situations and provide necessary support.

Commitment to Safety

We are dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community through proactive education and preparedness initiatives.

Our Mission

Enhancing Fire Safety for All

Our mission is to enhance fire safety for all residents of Lyle and neighboring areas by promoting awareness, providing resources, and fostering a culture of safety and preparedness.

Medical Support

The LFD ambulance, Lyle Aid, provides basic life support as a first response to medical-related incidents in support of KCEMS1 Ambulance Service. With 3 EMTs and 1 EMR, our skilled team stabilizes the scene to support arriving medical professionals.

Structure Fire Suppression

Our team continuously trains to safely and effectively respond to structure fires. With strategically staged equipment throughout our district, our team is ready to answer the call, should a fire start.

Wildland Fire

As temperatures rise and drought sets in, LFD focus shifts to include wildland fires. With one active Type VI brush truck, and three Type III trucks, more than half of our team is trained at the federal level for wildland fire response and are annually tested to meet the physical standard.
